History of Dawson Lake
Dawson Lake was the brainchild of owner and developer Rick Lazes. In 1995 he purchased 800 acres in the Appalachian Mountains, the same setting where he had found his own inspiration as an artist. He had a dream of building a lake in-between the two mountains and developing it as a destination resort and second home development. It took seven years to get a permit from the Army Corp of Engineers, then two years to build the dam. And two years later, the lake filled up with water from two natural mountain springs. In 2007, Rick began to construct the roads and install the underground utilities and the development of a world-class resort and spa nestled in the West Virginia mountains was underway. This would be a place where guests and residents could relax, eat healthy food, decompress, explore the natural surroundings, challenge themselves, and grow. Over the past seven years the dream has become a reality, and Dawson Lake will soon be open for hotel and spa guests a well as second home residents.
